About NurseTravels.Blog
Whether you're just starting, a seasoned traveler, or someone eager to learn about travel nursing, this is the place for you. My name is Kristin Lynn Smith, and I created Nurse Travels to do three things:
-
Tell travel stories.
-
Inform readers about the lifestyle and culture.
-
Provide tips, inspiration, and encouragement to help navigate the profession.

About Me: A Lifelong Traveler with a Passion for Healing
Some of my first memories are of traveling with my family. My dad was a soldier, so we moved where the Army sent us—first across the country to El Paso, TX, and then across the ocean to several bases in Germany.

My path has been unconventional, shaped by wanderlust and a passion for serving others. I've been a dental assistant, a helicopter pilot, and a soldier. I traveled 800 miles through a snowstorm for my first staff nursing job. After two years on the Covid floor and faced with homelessness, I became a traveler.

I spent the last three years (2021-2024) traveling across the Pacific Northwest as a Med/Surg nurse. Working as a travel nurse can be both thrilling and nerve-wracking. It has been the most challenging and rewarding experience of my life. I've seen a lot, met many people, and learned a few things. I created NurseTravels.Blog because I want to preserve and explore this time in the history of nursing while helping others navigate the same struggles I face as a traveler.

Thank you for your time,
K.L. Smith, RN, BSN.
